What is a majors golf pool?
A majors pool is for groups who care most about the five biggest weeks in golf. Nobody has to make picks every Monday. You draft a card for each big event, and those results add up on one season-long leaderboard. It's the format Pin High started with, and the one most groups pick first.
The five events are:
- The Players
- The Masters
- PGA Championship
- U.S. Open
- The Open
How to play
- Join or start a league. Create one in a minute and share the invite link with your group.
- Draft your card. Before each event, choose four golfers plus two alternates.
- Lock it in. Picks close before the first tee time on Thursday.
- Watch the leaderboard. Live scoring moves your league's standings through all four rounds.
- Repeat five times. The best card across all five events takes the season.
Who 5 Majors is for
5 Majors suits groups who don't want a weekly commitment but still want something on the line all year. That means college friends spread across time zones, a golf society, or a family group chat. Five deadlines a season is easy to keep up with. Each one lands on a week when everyone is already watching.
If your group wants to play every week, One and Done is the better fit. If you just want one big weekend, try Tiered Picks or a Calcutta.
The one-use rule
You can use each golfer once all season. If you put the world number one on your Players card, you can't pick him again at The Masters, the PGA Championship, the U.S. Open or The Open. That rule turns a simple pick-the-favourites pool into a season-long puzzle. Every card you lock in uses up options for the events still to come.
5 Majors strategy
Map out your season before The Players
Sketch a plan for all five events before you lock your first card. Match golfers to the courses and conditions they play best, like links specialists for The Open or long hitters for a major on a big parkland course.
Don't spend every star early
If you use the favourites in March, you'll be scraping by in July. Keep at least one elite name for each of the later majors.
Use your alternates
Alternates are cover for late withdrawals. Pick golfers you'd be happy to see play, not throwaways.
Frequently asked questions
Which tournaments are in a 5 Majors pool?
The Players, The Masters, the PGA Championship, the U.S. Open and The Open.
Can I pick the same golfer at more than one major?
No. Each golfer can be used once all season, so a player you pick for The Masters can't go on your card for any later event.
What are alternates for?
Alternates are your backups. Every card has two, so a late withdrawal doesn't leave a hole in your lineup.
When do picks lock?
Before the first tee time on Thursday of each event. Pin High sends reminders so you don't miss the deadline.
